HIV Prevention Integration Project - Region VIII (2000 - 2004)
JSI Denver has been a grantee for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's HIV Prevention Training Project since 1987. In 2000, JSI was funded to implement the program to integrate HIV and other prevention services in reproductive health and community settings. JSI proposed a project that responded to the priority areas of the CDC's Advancing the HIV Epidemic Initiative. The project was organized in three primary activity areas:

• HIV Prevention Integration of HIV Counseling & Testing;
  
• Client-Centered Counseling; and
  
• Model Clinic

JSI worked with the Denver Indian Health & Family Services (DIHFS) as the Model Clinic for Region VIII. DIHFS is a full service primary care clinic whose mission is to provide culturally competent services that promote personal, community and environmental health and wellness for American Indian families and individuals in the Metropolitan Denver area. Their Community Health Program consists of various components to assist American Indian people's access to other medical, dental, optical, and other related health services.
