Emergency Preparedness for H1N1
JSI is assisting the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Emergency Preparedness Bureau address outbreaks of the novel H1N1 influenza virus. JSI will develop documented guidance/protocols for the state Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) as well as health care facility SNS shortages for the H1N1 vaccine. JSI is also helping put in place systems for tracking scheduled flu vaccination clinics and distribution of assets from the state SNS for H1N1.

Three community health centers were awarded telemedicine grants by the California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) in 2007 to utilize telemedicine as a mechanism to increase access to specialty care. Assisting with the H1N1 Influenza Vaccine Deployment Process
JSI has been engaged by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to hire, train, and deploy a field staff to assist in the roll-out of novel human influenza virus H1N1 vaccine within the Commonwealth, as it becomes available. Disseminating the NCI Health Disparities Calculator
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) hired JSI to complete the Health Disparities Calculator (HD*Calc) Dissemination Project. HD*Calc is a software application, that can be used as an extension of SEER*Stat, to calculate multiple measures of cancer related health disparities from Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) data. The application can also be applied to other population-based public health data sources.

Strategizing Alignment Process of HRSA Core Measures and Quality Improvement Initiatives
The HRSA Center for Quality has identified a set of 12 core clinical measures that span the life cycle for alignment across all HRSA direct service programs. JSI worked with the Center for Quality in 2007 to implement a feasibility study of diverse HRSA grantees' ability to collect these 12 measures. The RHInterchange (RHI) is a community for reproductive health supplies management that is evidence-based and that uses best practices in RH commodity security. The RHI is a web-based tool that collects order and shipment information from UNFPA, USAID, and IPPF. Funded by the Gates Foundation, RHI is now focused on engaging country-based managers to see how this tool might better help in-country supply management.

JSI has been awarded two evaluation contracts by the Global Alliance
for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI). Under the Civil Society
Organization Evaluability Study, JSI will design a monitoring
and evaluation system to measure the progress and effectiveness
of GAVI's support to 10 pilot countries. In the second GAVI contract,
JSI will evaluate the sustainability of its injection safety
support.

Assessing Underserved Audience for Waquoit Bay Reserve
JSI is working with the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research

Supporting Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Zimbabwe
Children First is a five-year program funded by USAID that will
strengthen proven programs and develop new models for care and
support of orphans and vulnerable children in Zimbabwe. Through
this project, managed through the World Education/John Snow,
Inc. Bantwana Initiative, JSI will work directly with local health
organizations to access, expand, and integrate care and support
to children and families living with HIV.

JSI Awarded AIDSTAR Task Order 1 Program
JSI has been awarded a significant contract from the US Agency
for International Development (USAID) under the AIDS Support

state health care system, the Colorado Health Foundation has

Adolescent Family Life
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has contracted with
JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc., to provide technical
assistance and training to Adolescent Family Life grantees under
