This extension to a five-year USAID-funded task order builds upon existing initiatives and developments in South Africa and further concentrates efforts to strengthen the capacity of individuals and institutions to collect, analyze, and use information to inform the rapid PEPFAR scale-up of sustainable and quality HIV and AIDS programs.

Through the project JSI is building capacity for strategic information in communities to achieve comprehensive information system development for OVC and other program areas, design and implement action plans for enhanced use of data, provide technical assistance for maximizing data quality in results reporting, develop and maintain a USG results reporting database, and to create high-quality multivariate GIS mapping applications.

The program utilizes a multi-level training structure and a rigorous system of evaluating training effectiveness and participant follow-up. The program will ensure that all of the data, tools, methodologies, and capacity that the PEPFAR/South Africa team has are duplicated at the implementing partners' levels to strengthen national systems. This includes development and maintenance of a reporting database and demonstration of methods to ensure high-quality data.
